Wooden Floor Sanding • French Polishing • Furniture and Bar Restoration Work
J's Restoration, "The Wood Restorers" are specialists in the renovation of wooden floors, furniture and all types of modern and traditional woodwork. Wooden Floor Sanding, French Polishing and Parquet Floor Renovation can bring your home back to life.
Beautiful, sanded wooden floors are very much sought after. Mother nature's own style is unlikely to ever go out of fashion. Properly sanded wooden floors are both beautiful and hard wearing. They look great whether your taste is contemporary or traditional.
Note that it is not just old wooden flooring that can be sanded. Many of today's modern timber and engineered floorings are either solid wood or they may have a thick veneer that can be sanded, so if your modern floor is not looking at its best I may be able to sand it back to life too.
I have more than 10 years experience of renovating and restoring worn out polished timber back to a new condition and I have also been into furniture restoration for more than 10 years now. I have worked for large companies like Greene King, JD Wetherspoon's and Barracuda.
I then added domestic work like door renovation and from there went on to working for various joinery shops and contractors polishing or reviving stairs, floors and doors. I am also experienced in restoring parquet and other types of wooden floors.
The Wood Restorer is based in Coulsdon, Surrey. I work in and around this area but i am willing to travel further if need be.
How much does wood restoration cost?
The following prices are typical
- Floors from £450
- Doors from £40
- Front doors from £250
- Hearth removal and piecing in from £150
- New stairs, all in from £500
Floors can be repaired and restored or even replaced although I would recommend restoring an old floor whenever possible as most old floors have so much more character than today's modern laminates, etc. All types of wooden flooring can be sanded including finger block and parquet flooring >.
I also offer an efficient hearth removal service. Click here to enquire about this.
I also specialise in internal and external door refurbishment and renovation, stripping, polished or reviving. Colour and filling is also available. More info on Door Renovation >
I started in pub restoration, restoring bars, floors, doors, tables and stools. This involves either stripping or reviving the bar and its furniture. Starting with old, scratched and dirty wood, I gain tremendous job satisfaction from seeing the final result.
I specialise in bar restoration, bar tops, back fittings, bar frontages, over bar, floors, tables and doors. Most repairs can be dealt with. When french polishing and working on bar tops I use what’s called a squirrel hair "mop" for applying sealers, shellac polishes and brushing lacquers.
This type of mop doesn’t leave brush marks. Other methods of application in use are a mouse and spraying but I believe the best finish is with the mop as it gives it a nice thick, long-lasting finish.
French Polishing Service
A specialist French Polishing service is also available from J's Restoration (The Wood Restorer). As you will be aware solid wood furniture can be very expensive nowadays.
Don't throw out that beautiful, solid old table. Call us and we will polish it back to a new condition.
Any type of traditional furniture can be rescued and renovated (it's a shame to scrap craftsman built furniture like this). It really is worthwhile having it renovated and restored by French Polishing.
Stairs can be revived or stripped and polished including treads, spindles and newels.
Hand rails I would recommend stripping and polishing with 3 coats of sanding sealer (shellac based) and 3-5 coats of bar top lacquer giving it a smooth glass finish. More info on stairs renovation >
